About Friends
Nothing will ever compare with the building of Enyindakurom, but DMJ Friends Of Ahotokurom continues to meet as an associated group of the D.M.J.s to support the work of Ahotokurom Rehabilitation Project and its work in Enyindakurom. We aim to raise the profile of the work in the UK and provide a focus for others to get involved in this mission. There are several aspects to our work:
- Publicity
We circulate a newsletter to supporters twice a year, we maintain this web site and we provide photos and video footage for displays.
- Sponsorship
We administer a small scheme of sponsorship for children.
- Parish/Group Support
We enable and facilitate groups who require information and support to raise funds for any part of the work.
- Financial Responsibility
We keep account of all our dealings, reporting to the D.M.J.s as an associated group, transferring monies raised biannually. - Response to Special Appeals
We provide Ahotokurom with special help when necessary, through raising funds, or sharing skills and expertise.
We meet twice a year to exchange news from Ahotokurom, to report on the financial aspects of the work and to discuss progress on fund raising or projects being undertaken. A small committee take on specific responsibilities but many, many others support with donations and so on.
Currently we are involved in the following projects:
- General funding of the work through palm cross sales and donations.
- Rainham Parish's scholarship scheme for those seeking training.
- Funding the school specifically
- Supporting Childcare either through sponsorship or general donations.
- Developing an IT project with hardware, training, and a commercial centre.
- Building the market stalls (£3000) and the shops (£3000).
- Developing and maintaining this web site
None of this would be possible without the generosity of those who support this work. If you would like to support us by making a donation, then please click here to find out how.
